Earlier today, an 18-year old Australian teennager was arrested for writing, "2shie" on a wall outside a cafe Hyde Park, Sydney, Australia. After Cheyenne Beck was arrested, she pleaded guilty to intentionally or recklessly damaging property. Song Wang, the owner of the cafe, is seekign A$200 in compensation, although she does not agree with the jail sentence, saying that she should just do some more community service.
I think that she should not have been arrested, much less sentenced to jail for three months just for some grafitti. It was just a very small thing, just writing on a wall. It can easily be painted over.
